The Nomads: A Funny Old Bunch.

Who are The Nomads?

The Nomads are an independent group of people who get together on a regular basis to enjoy the benefits of walking. Walking is a great way to improve your health and with the Nomads you're certain to make friends. All these benefits whilst exploring the many beautiful locations in Rhondda Cynon Taff (and beyond).

Walking with The Nomads

The walks are not strenuous and vary in distance (usually 1-3 hrs). There is no need for expensive equipment. A stout pair of shoes and an old waterproof jacket should suffice. It is recommended that you bring some water, perhaps a bite to eat... just in case you get hungry.

Walks usually take place on a Friday. Group members usually meet at the Community Development Centre (around 10am). The community minibus is often hired for walks outside the area.

If you are interested and want to join in please contact us.

Note: Anyone who takes part in any walks, do so at their own risk.

Why it is Good to Walk

Regular walking is one of the easiest ways to improve your health and well being. It also allows you to enjoy the pleasures of the local countryside and breathe in the fresh air.

Walking is an ideal exercise for those who don't have enough time or are unable to get to the gym. You do not need any special equipment for walking and you can vary the pace to suit yourself.

Walking can be done alone, with your partner or as a group. Walking is perfect for those who want to take regular exercise and enjoy the improvements in their health, fitness and general well-being.

Most importantly, walking is free and most people see quick results. These include:

weight loss;
better strength & mobility;

improved mood;

general health & well-being.

In the long term walking can help to:

prevent heart disease;
lower cholesterol;

reduce high blood pressure;
alleviate symptoms of diabetes, arthritis & osteoporosis.

So why not take the opportunity and join us.
