Website back in full swing
Posted 06/08/2008
You
may have noticed that Cwmclydach Online has been looking the same for a few
weeks or so. Sadly, it's one of the disadvantages of having one webmaster.
When I go on my holidays, so does the website. It is certainly something
that I'll be looking address in the coming year as we need the website to
continue looking fresh all the time. However, it's back & it's updated.
Remember, if there's anything you'd like to see on the site or if you have
any local news then please let us know.
Cheers
Karl
A Few Words From The Big
Guy
Posted 18/06/08
The
Communities First Environmental Awareness Day just seems to be getting
better year on year, with lots of people coming to the Lakeside Café /Bar to
see what’s going on. Various stalls and organisations with an environmental
theme were once again in attendance from woodcarvers to walking groups.
This year there was the opportunity join Mentro Allan for a bicycle ride
while Richard Wistow of RCTCBC was once again leading old and young alike
around the Countryside Park showing and describing what a wonderful variety
of wildlife and flora we are blessed with in our valley.
Several Schools were also in
attendance including Gelli Primary school and of course Cwmclydach Primary
with their excellent Eco School stand. However, the undoubted stars of the
show was the Festival Park Owls Sanctuary with their birds of prey including
Eagle Owls, Barn owls, Rail Tailed Hawks, Kestrels, Little Owls and a Tawny
Eagle.
All in all it was a great
day and the Communities First Team would like to thank all our many
contributors and especially our volunteers for their support in getting this
event off the ground. A special thank you to the Lakeside Café staff for
the excellent buffet and amount of hard work they had to put in to keep
everyone fed and watered on the day. And finally a big thank you for those
people who came along from Cwmclydach and beyond to support the event.

The team at Bwllfa farm have been working in partnership with Rhondda
Community Business Initiative, Environment
Wales and the Welsh Church Acts Fund to provide facilities such as walkways,
bridges, gates and information boards.
The Environment & Tourism Group have already initiated talks with
Environment Wales and the hope is, that we can tap into the various funds
available in order to make similar improvements in and around the Country Park.
